There are two types of cooking for your sims to learn in The Sims 4 and all sims start with their homestyle cooking skill and eventually are able to gain the gourmet cooking skill.
This skill is much fancier and has your sims cooking items like garlic noodles, herb-crusted salmon and the coveted ambrosia recipe. Just getting that ambrosia recipe alone is a great reason to use the gourmet cooking skill cheat.
Using this cheat can get you to quickly increase your skill and skip past the grind of making meals and wasting money on cooking them!
How to Enable Cheats
The first step to being able to use the sims 4 gourmet cooking skill cheat is to make sure to enable cheats before you start. This is necessary because many cheats are not going to work unless they are properly enabled first but don’t worry, it’s a simple process!
The first thing you need to do is open up the cheat dialogue box with a command that is different depending on what system you’re playing on.
- PC: Ctrl + Shift + C
- Mac: Command + Shift + C
- Console: All Four Triggers
Once the cheat box opens at the top of the screen you’ll want to type testingcheats true into this box and hit enter. At this point the game will pop the box larger and it will say cheats are enabled and then you’re completely free to use any cheats from the game.
How to Cheat the Gourmet Cooking Skill
The base of the gourmet cooking skill is stats.set_skill_level major_gourmetcooking X where you’ll want to fill the X with whatever level of the skill you’d like your sims to have.
Since gourmet cooking is a ten level major skill you’ll see in the chart below ten variations of this skill cheat that you can copy and paste directly into the cheat dialogue box.

Gourmet cooking is one of those base game skills that you definitely don’t need to have in your sim’s lives but you’ll definitely benefit by having more delicious meals that can give your sim’s positive moodlets.
